BEAUTY / GRAPHIC PINK

A few days ago, I dyed my hair pink. An impulsive decision when shopping for fresh beauty supplies and I spotted a new permanent pink dye. I’m currently really loving it and hoping it’ll fade to a paler shade as time progresses and my roots start to grow out again.

BEAUTY / FRESH CUT

collage-39

Every once in a while, I get a much needed hair cut. However, since dying my hair silver nearly two years ago, I sort of forgot about getting it cut and focused more on maintaining colour.
However, summer is usually a time of change for me and this one has been no exception. I have a few festivals lined up so decided this was the perfect time to chop my shoulder length locks for easier maintenance.

I’m in love with the blunt cut of my new hair, having no layers or fringe to create fuss. Styling is seemingly easier and my hair is holding its style and colour much better than before.

COLLECTION / LCF GRAD SHOW COLLABORATION

collage-37collage-38

I find that graduate work is usually the most outrageous and experimental, as this is the collection that usually gets a designers foot in the door.

One collection that stood out to me when browsing through some of the LCF grad show collections, was a collaboration between three different designers. Gayane Arzumanova, Beth Wilson and Yui Jiang, who all contributed to a different aspect of the designs. Arzumanova being the designer, Wilson being the creator of the heat-manipulated leather and Jiang being the creator of each dramatic headpiece. Which has created a truly spectacular and original collection.

When interviewed backstage, Gayane Arzumanova said her motive was ‘to capture the idea of a transient moment, a notion communicated through sculptural silhouettes which appeared to have been frozen in motion’ which garments appearing as though they’re melting over the body.

Beautifully abstract.

WEARING / CROP CROCHET

Summer is quickly approaching and in Nottingham it’s perfect non-jacket weather. This cute crochet jacket/top I bought from ASOS (by Monki) is perfect as it suits as both an over top and jacket in one.

WEARING / SLOUCHY KNITS

As spring approaches, theres something so lovely about not having to pile as many layers on. I find thin knits perfect for the transition between seasons, especially when worn with an overcoat. These knits from Zara provide the perfect balance between warmth, comfort and style.

COLLECTION / LOUIS VUITTON

Will 2016 be the year of Louis Vuitton? Well, by judging how their year has gone only 28 days in, I think it may well be. With campaigns that have gone viral and ones that have pushed sexist boundaries, and they just keep getting better and better.

Their most recent collection for menswear fall 2016 was inspired by Paris, with Art Deco designs, scribbly Jean Cocteau–esque drawings, a pile of Vuitton monogram trunks and a chiffon drape hanging from the ceiling- enough to make anyone excited!

NOVELTY / FAUSTINE STEINMETZ

For our current brief for university, we have been asked to create a 16 page magazine on a specific topic – I chose distressed denim. During my research for this I discovered an amazing young designer who’s work is right on par with my topic, Faustine Steinmetz. Her work includes old denim pieces which have then pleated, shredded, knotted, bleached and distressed to create gorgeous new unique pieces.

I feel her outlook on fashion is very fresh and I feel larger designers should be inspired by her to make their own garments environmentally friends and sustainable. The Parisian designer has since expanded her line to use polo shirts and worn tracksuits and also created a vegan handbag line.
