A few days ago, I dyed my hair pink. An impulsive decision when shopping for fresh beauty supplies and I spotted a new permanent pink dye. I’m currently really loving it and hoping it’ll fade to a paler shade as time progresses and my roots start to grow out again.
Every once in a while, I get a much needed hair cut. However, since dying my hair silver nearly two years ago, I sort of forgot about getting it cut and focused more on maintaining colour.
However, summer is usually a time of change for me and this one has been no exception. I have a few festivals lined up so decided this was the perfect time to chop my shoulder length locks for easier maintenance.
I’m in love with the blunt cut of my new hair, having no layers or fringe to create fuss. Styling is seemingly easier and my hair is holding its style and colour much better than before.
For my current university project, we have been researching into the art of perfumery and how it is marketed and branded. During one of my research trips into a department store I spotted CK2, the new genderless perfume from Calvin Klein.
Upon talking to a sales associate; their marketing and choice of perfume ingredients* felt so fresh – and has definitely became inspiration for creating our own scent brand in university.
* wasabi, wet cobblestones, violet leaf, incense, vetiver and sandalwood
Am I the only person tired of seeing contouring everywhere? Darker and lighter toned foundations, creams, powders used to create a more ‘defined’ facial structure that just seems too much of a hassle and takes way too long. Personally, I just find it dated and uninteresting.
One arising trend I do find much more interesting, fresh and modern is the neutral make-up look. Light coverage foundation, neutral eye shadow shades, pink toned lipstick – just enough to enhance your features. And this is definitely a trend I have been embracing recently.
One product that is the soul of this look is my Kiehl’s BB cream. I absolutely love this stuff – it feels like moisturiser during application and sits weightlessly on your skin. It’s also enriched with vitamin C to help correct skin irregularities, making it perfect for everyday use as well as nighttime wear.
I’ve had my blog nearly a year now, and weirdly this is my very first beauty post. A few weeks ago, I posted this nail art design using silver tinsel on my instagram inspired by some of Love Aesthetics old nail art posts. Since I’ve recently had eye surgery, I’ve been pretty bed bound and bored and this repeating design has been enough to keep me occupied for a while without straining my eye too much. Here’s how I did it:
1/ Paint all your nails with a base coat.
2/ Apply a few layers of white polish to four of your nails, leaving one on each hand bare.
3/ Add a coat of clear polish to your bare nail, whilst it’s still wet carefully place three strips of tinsel on your nail in one direction.
4/ Once that’s dry, apply another coat of clear polish and repeat set 3 but place the tinsel in the opposite direction to create a check.
Last week, the lovely people at House of Sunny invited me down to their studio in London to view some of their current pieces as well as their upcoming Autumn/Winter collection and try on some of their garments.
It was an amazing experience which allowed me to get an inside view on how their beautiful garments are designed and made.
I tried on two outfits whilst I was there, one being their never seen before striped silk outdoor pyjama set which is part of their upcoming A/W15 collection which I am so in love with! The detail put into their garments is just amazing along with the fact all their patterns and garments are made by hand in their studio.
After leaving the studio, I did some shopping around London and went to the Oxford Circus Topshop which stocks some of their garments. I picked a few for myself; the ultra shirt and the ribbed crop top which I worn non stop since I bought them and I will be featuring them in many future blog posts.
Thank you once again to Sunny and everyone at HoS for inviting me down to their studio! If you haven’t already, make sure you check out House of Sunny for beautiful clean aesthetic pieces which can easily become staples in any wardrobe.
