My flatmate and I have recently began a collaborative project called BeFee, although we don’t have an end goal for this project yet, we have been playing around doing photoshoots, and posting the end results on Instagram.

Our most recent being, ‘Projection’
I feel I may begin using this as a platform to showcase some of work.

COLLECTION / LCF GRAD SHOW COLLABORATION

collage-37collage-38

I find that graduate work is usually the most outrageous and experimental, as this is the collection that usually gets a designers foot in the door.

One collection that stood out to me when browsing through some of the LCF grad show collections, was a collaboration between three different designers. Gayane Arzumanova, Beth Wilson and Yui Jiang, who all contributed to a different aspect of the designs. Arzumanova being the designer, Wilson being the creator of the heat-manipulated leather and Jiang being the creator of each dramatic headpiece. Which has created a truly spectacular and original collection.

When interviewed backstage, Gayane Arzumanova said her motive was ‘to capture the idea of a transient moment, a notion communicated through sculptural silhouettes which appeared to have been frozen in motion’ which garments appearing as though they’re melting over the body.

Beautifully abstract.

WEARING / CROP CROCHET

Summer is quickly approaching and in Nottingham it’s perfect non-jacket weather. This cute crochet jacket/top I bought from ASOS (by Monki) is perfect as it suits as both an over top and jacket in one.

PLACES /MVRDV X CHANEL

Innovative contemporary architectural company MVRDV have collaborated with Chanel to redesign their flagship Amsterdam store and the outcome is truly beautiful.

They have used pioneering glass technology to combine modernism and tradition to recreate the city’s traditional architectural style in a fresh and interesting way. The glass used is said to be ‘in many ways, stronger than concrete’  according to MVRDV.

The design fades from a traditional terracotta brick townhouse into a clear full glass design, combining style and history in one and it will be top of my visiting list next time I’m in Amsterdam.

LISTENING / CHASE AND STATUS X SLAVES

It’s been a while since I’ve done a ‘listening’ post, but yesterday in university we had a lecture on collaborations and it got me thinking about recent collaborations outside of fashion. The one that particularly stuck in my mind is the recent teasers for a song collaboration between Chase & Status and Slaves – which is being released on February 24th.

However, today they released a video teaser on Chase & Status website which I feel is an extremely interesting and clever promotion tool. The website has uploaded an interactive video in which a clip of the song is playing in the background and you can move your mouse to view different angles of the video. From a promotion point of view, I feel this is a very clever way to promote not only the new collaboration but drive traffic onto their website and encourage fans of each group to check out the other. Finally, as a huge fan of Slaves I find it so exciting to see them collaborating with a group as influential as Chase & Status!

The song is dropped tomorrow and will be premiered on BBC Radio 1 at 7:30pm tonight (23/02).

Last week, the lovely people at House of Sunny invited me down to their studio in London to view some of their current pieces as well as their upcoming Autumn/Winter collection and try on some of their garments.
It was an amazing experience which allowed me to get an inside view on how their beautiful garments are designed and made.

I tried on two outfits whilst I was there, one being their never seen before striped silk outdoor pyjama set which is part of their upcoming A/W15 collection which I am so in love with! The detail put into their garments is just amazing along with the fact all their patterns and garments are made by hand in their studio.

After leaving the studio, I did some shopping around London and went to the Oxford Circus Topshop which stocks some of their garments. I picked a few for myself; the ultra shirt and the ribbed crop top which I worn non stop since I bought them and I will be featuring them in many future blog posts.

Thank you once again to Sunny and everyone at HoS for inviting me down to their studio! If you haven’t already, make sure you check out House of Sunny for beautiful clean aesthetic pieces which can easily become staples in any wardrobe.
